WELCOME!

Indoor Masses starting this Saturday, June 13th

Dear Parishioners,

Now we are getting ready for Phase II in reopening our church for public worship. The outdoor Masses have given us an opportunity to gather again and participate in the Mass and receive Holy Communion. We thank God for the very clement weather. We also thank our many volunteers from the Men’s League including Fred Santore and Ivan for the professional sound system. However, with the hot summer weather coming, the outdoor Masses are no longer sustainable given the current guidelines. Therefore, as our Bishop Frank Caggiano has announced, the parishes in the Diocese of Bridgeport can open the church for indoor Masses. There are new guidelines for those who wish to participate in the Mass inside the church. First of all, if you are sick or have any symptoms, please stay home. Our goal is to worship together while keeping everybody safe. Missals are not available, singing by congregants is not allowed, you will be seated by our ushers, face masks are required at all times, social distancing must be maintained while walking in and out the church and going to receive Holy Communion, bathrooms are to be used only in case of emergency at your own risk, only the main entrance of the church will be used, no side door. Instead of taking up collections, there will be a collection box at the entrance of the church for your offerings.

We want to reassure you about the measures we are taking to offer you a safe and clean church. We have created a task force of volunteers which is in charge of disinfecting the church before and after each Mass. We want to offer you a place that is safer than other public places, like grocery stores or other stores. Our parish is taking precautions per the CDC and Governor Lamont’s recommendations regarding public gatherings, as well as our own precautions we feel are prudent under the circumstances. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to Mass, but please understand there are risks involved in attending a public worship in a pandemic despite all of the precautions taken by the parish and the diocese. We ask your cooperation with all of the directives that have been put in place for your safety and the safety of our clergy and your fellow worshipers.

Due to social distancing, the seats available for Mass are very limited. The new Mass schedule will be Saturday 4pm and Sunday 9am and 11am.  This will allow us to have time to clean after Mass and also give parishioners time to enter and exit with social distancing. We will continue to stream our Masses online. Also, starting next week, we will offer weekday Masses on Tuesday and Friday at 5:30pm. If you wish to attend you must register beforehand by calling the parish office. However, Bishop Caggiano has extented the dispensation from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass for those who have medical conditions, those who are vulnerable or those who are afraid of contacting the virus.

In the meanwhile, I will keep you and your families in my prayers. May God bless you and keep you safe!

Father Ciprian Bejan, Pastor

We, the Catholic faithful of Fairfield County, stand together with Christ at this transformational moment in our history, when we are called upon to invest in the true treasure of the Church - the people who form the Body of Christ - in order to lead them, young and old, rich and poor, forward in faith to ensure a strong, vibrant Church for our children and their children.

"Those who have preceded us have left us with the gift of a vibrant Church.
The obligation is ours to maintain and enhance this inheritance..."
...Most Rev. Frank Caggiano, Bishop of Bridgeport
